Are u open for dinner today? I know u don't take reservations There will be 9 of us.?
Excellent service and ambiance. Food seemed to be hit and miss. The Miso Spaghetti was pretty unique and tasty. Although the rainbow roll looked awesome, it didn't taste anything special.
MoreGood sushi small servings high prices
Hamachi Belly! Get it! This was my favorite thing I ate while in Hawaii, the fish was so fresh it melted in your mouth and had a slight smoke flavor from the torching. Delicious!
MoreOutstanding appetizers and nigiri, the rolls looked very good as well.
Good food but staff seems ignorant to Japanese food/culture. For example, we asked if they had green tea, the brought us genmaicha (which is brown, so obviously not green tea) and said that is green tea.....well, they're half right but still not what we wanted (genmaicha is usually mixed with green tea but it's mainly roasted brown rice).
MoreVery fresh sushi rolls with melt in mouth rice and fish. Delicious noodles and delicious miso soup.
MoreOMG!!! This place was amaze balls, Thank god Mama's so busy!! Everything we had was top notch, with exquisite taste & freshest food. If your looking for a new place to try or just in the area stop in. We definitely will be back on our next trip. The Garlic edamame & Tenderloin where from heaven. Only pic we have was after we scarfed it down.
MoreGorging at one of the newer top sushi spots on the island is never a disappointment. Hit up the Toro, unagi, hamachi, maguro, shiromi, some really inventive rolls, and a dynamite smoked marlin dip... OMG. Washed down with some new Japanese beers I'd never had and had some uni for "dessert". Gotta get here early... no reservations and long wait by 1730. Always happy bellies all around! 😉
MoreWorth traveling anywhere on Maui to get here! Most amazing Japanese/Sushi restaurant! So cozy yet fusion and trendy!Try anything on the daily specials and you won't be disappointed. Worth any time waiting since they don't take reservations. Open at 4:30, and I would suggest you go at 4:20! Utterly incredible presentation and taste sensation.DO NOT PARK AT THE POST OFFICE!There's plenty of parking if you're ok with walking a little bit.
MoreGreat experience. Will definitely return on our next visit. Definitely worth the drive from the south.
MoreSimple and good. Sashimi, eggplants, salad over sake. We didn't expect much. Everything was decent. The restaurant to dine at in the area.
MoreWow! Best sushi I've had in the last 5 years! (I visit Japan almost weekly). Went at dinner rush hour and the cooks were heads down, super busy. When they had a chance to look up they smiled! Great decor and the philosophy of Nuka (they prep their own rice!) captivated me. MOST UNIQUE (fresher, nuttier flavor) sushi rice I've ever tasted. Every dish was outstanding. Excellent cocktails. Everything fresh! Can't wait to visit again.
MoreBest in class! It’s hard to find a better more tasty and innovative restaurant on Maui. I always love the regular dinner menu and the daily featured dishes show off the chef’s creative spirit. The lunches are the best, most reasonable and the highest quality meals available in Haiku midday. I’ve never been disappointed by a meal in this restaurant.
MoreAmazing! If you like sushi even a little, don't settle for anything else on the menu. The Chicken Donburi Bowl paled in comparison to this Haleakala Roll.
MoreLegit Japanese. This is the #1 Japanese restaurant I found on the island. Made me feel like I was in Japan, and the food, drinks, and black sesame ice cream were amazing! They were also very helpful with my gluten issues.
MoreWe have loved this restaurant for years, but tonight when we went we had knew waitresses help us who were so rude they ruined our night and my guests. We realized that now they have added the automatic tip to the bill, the waitresses have no reason to be nice as they get a tip either way and they give you attitude that will shock you. It use to be our favorite place but it has lost many points for us...
MoreJapanese cuisine and sushi bar. Tucked away on the North Shore up in Haiku Town by the Post Office. This food is made with love and you can totally tell. Great for people watching and you may even see a famous surfer, windsurfer or kiteboarder there.
MoreStopped in for lunch but the sushi bar was not open. Tried the hurricane fries, cheeseburger deluxe, fish burger deluxe, saimin, and drymein. All were ok. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
MoreMan this place is super good. No reservations accepted so if you are a large party you might be waiting for a while. But it is worth it. The miss eggplant dish is amazing
More11/10! The rolls are next level delicious! The Haleakala is my favorite roll, it's baked and features salmon.Other top rolls are the tempura shrimp and the caterpillar. The caterpillar has 4 different kinds of infused tobiko (regular, citrus, habanero, and jalapeno). We also always get the hurricane fries which are crispy and cooked to perfection with furikake, eel sauce (?) and wasabi aoili for dipping. We go here quite often and it's a favorite. One of the best sushi I've ever had.
MoreFood was delicious and presentation was beautiful. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the servers were friendly. A little pricey but I think it was worth it. Great experience overall
MoreEven it is not a big restaurant, the food served are well worth the price we had paid for. Service is amazingly excellent. Highly recommend.
MoreLoved the sushi, udon, and yakitori. Wonderful place in Maui!
This place is gem. We've had one of our best sushi experience there. The food was simply fresh, well prepared and delicious. They don't take reservations, be sure to show up early. The place is usually packed. If you have to wait for a while to be seated, endure, it will be worth it. Can be a bit pricey. The staff is wonderful. Be sure to stop there on your way back from the Road To Hana.
MoreReally good, local sushi joint. Get there early, fills up for dinner!
A delicious destination in a very small/quiet town on Maui. The tempura was really good with very fresh veg and light batter and the udon noodles and broth were some of the best I've had. The sushi was equally fresh and unique. One thing to note: I do not recommend the California roll here. All the other rolls we tried were definitely great but this was a complete miss for us.
MoreExcellent food, nice cocktails, pricey
We love this place! Great food, service and staff!
Haiku's most popular spot for a good reason 😉🙂
Better than any other japanese place we have on Oahu! IMHO
If you like fresh sushi with service that is over the top amazing, go here! Drinks were delicious, and the sushi...wow! We got a few rolls and nigiri, everything was fresh, delicious and the presentation was spot on! The thing that impressed me the most was the staff. It was a team effort. We had our main waitress and she took very good care of us, but everyone else also helped. If it was ready to be served it got served, even when our waitress was helping another table. It was really easy to be in an environment where you can tell the staff enjoy their jobs. This is a cozy space so that is an important factor, I could feel it. Thank you Nuka, I will be back!
MoreThis place is super popular, as you'll be able to see from the wait to get in. But it's Maui, so put your name on the list and relax. If you have a long wait ahead of you, take a walk to see what else is in the area. You'll be well rewarded for your patience. The gobo chips are a must for me. Long, crunchy, and just the right thing for someone like me who loves snacking. The oyster shooters are equally satisfying - if your lucky, you'll get to see them put it all together. Drink and sushi specials occur daily. Order lots, share amongst friends, and enjoy the friendly staff - you cant go wrong!
MoreBest sushi In Maui. They have the friendliest servers and genuinely nice staff
Goo. wasn't the absolute best sushi or sashimi i've had, but quite decent. A bit expensive, but that's to be expected and I wouldn't count that as a mark against them. The tenderloin beef I had was excellent along with the edimame and miso soup. The sashimi was cut a bit thick for comfort to my tastes despite it's good variety, but the "rainbow roll" (pictured below) was quite the treat, with several different fish over top of California rolls... Quite delicious. I can't comment on the drinks as I didn't have any, but service was prompt and friendly.
Morethe rainbow roll and butter fish was ono!! I wish the lunch menu would have dynamite and shrimp tempura. I guess be back for dinner!!
MoreMy husband and I stopped in after we got massages at a nearby spa and couldn't have enjoyed it more. We shared two sushi rolls and each got a burger and hurricane fries. The food here was spectacular. The sushi was the freshest I've ever had. A great local spot that feels authentic and welcoming. Wish we could come back before we leave!
MoreThe best sushi and love their tenderloin and truffle edamame
We loved this place! The atmosphere was calming and modern. When we came in our party had been hiking and so we were famished... the server quickly took our order and suggested several plates to help speed things along. She didn’t disappoint! The food was great!!!
MoreBest sushi in Hawaii. This place was our stop after a long day on Haleakala. An isolated gem in the last place you would expect it to be.
MoreFresh sushi. Great atmosphere.
Do not come here during lunch hours. Terrible service.. terrible food. Short menu, missing a lot of dinner options including a lot of sushi. Server ignored us multiple times and food was mediocre. We got one roll once we got the check. Valentine's day roll was uninspired.
MoreWithout a doubt one of the best spots for sushi on Maui.
Great food and drinks. A++ staff. Worth the drive. They do get busy. But you are well taken care of by the staff.
MoreI love the Saba and hamachi here. The eggplant is also, AMAZING. The sunamono is...well bad. Avoid that, and you'll have a good meal.
MoreEveryone was so amazing!!! We went after a long time of wanting to, and it was so good. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I went with my two younger children (8 and 5yo) and sat at the sushi bar, they had a great time. Every item was delicious. Thank you for the wonderful evening.
MoreGreat food, go early to assure seating (it is small and popular). Opens at 4:30 pm. We got there at 4:10 and there were 2 more couples there when it opened. Everyone wears masks and the tables are more than 6 ft apart.
MoreSushi was amazing! Well worth the price! Quick and friendly service!
Awesome place! We ordered the miso soup, sushi and homemade ice cream! Everything was excellent!
MoreGreat food and dining experience
Good food, oyster shooters. Reasonable price.
